Practical solutions

Which PLC modernisation approach fits your plant?

This solution starts with the existing controller. Project files, actual function, I/O and communication determine whether an extension, partial replacement or platform migration is appropriate.

Scope of work

Technical tasks

  • Review the existing system and available software
  • compare retention, partial replacement and migration
  • define target functions and checks

Technical questions

What can be done if legacy PLC project files are missing?

Available documentation, hardware, signals and the required functions are reviewed first. This provides a basis for a testable modernisation scope and a list of open technical points. Recovery of a complete original project is not promised as a standard outcome.

How does a CODESYS migration differ from adding data integration?

Migration transfers or reimplements control software for a new system generation. Data integration makes selected plant values available to other systems. Both tasks may occur in one project, but they have separate interfaces and checks.
